Don't Waste Your Advent
Some Devotional Resources to Make the Most of Sacred Time
Don’t Waste Your Cancer (a booklet by John Piper) strengthened many. It showed that even in a time of working through cancer, God has a purpose and good work for us to do.
In a similar spirit, maybe one day I’ll write a booklet called, Don’t Waste Your Advent. Perhaps at first that sounds disrespectful. Should we really compare a booklet about something as serious as cancer with a holiday?
If you stop to think about it, the comparison is just. Both are seasons of life wherein we ponder what is most important. And now that we’ve stopped to think for a minute— What is the more sacred reality? Our mortality or the arrival of God in the flesh?
Until I get around to writing the booklet, today I will settle for just reminding you. Don’t Waste Your Advent!
To help you spend the next few weeks well, here are 4 Advent devotionals you may want to purchase.
The Advent of Glory: 24 Devotions for Christmas, by RC Sproul
The Dawn of Redeeming Grace: Daily Devotions for Advent, by Sinclair Ferguson
Let Earth Receive Her King: Daily Readings for Advent, by Alistair Begg
The Biggest Story Advent: 25 Lift-the-Flap Devotions for Families, by Kevin DeYoung

Thanks for these resources. We'll have to check out the DeYoung one. Zach and I also like O Come, O Come Emmanuel by Jonathan Gibson. It's very liturgical and very Reformed at the same time.
We just started using The Advent of Glory by Sproul. 🙂
